The 20-th Annual ROCM Conference will be held from October 4-7, 2007, at the  Best Western Executive Inn
hotel in Seattle, Washington, located within the central part of the city, near downtown and within sight of the Space Needle. The natural beauty of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest presents an excellent venue for this year's conference. This is Seattle's second time hosting the ROCM Conference and coincides with the 75-th Anniversary of the Saint Nicholas Cathedral's founding.

The objective of these annual conferences,  sponsored by
the Liturgical Music Commission of the Synod of Bishops of
the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) is
to bring together singers and conductors and together to
explore the wealth and majesty of Russian liturgical music
through lectures, hands-on workshops, rehearsals and
    divine services.

The conferences examine historical trends; explore the
    contributions of key figures in Russian sacred music;
study, rehearse and perform a wide range of sacred chant
and composed music; address questions of performance
practice, musicianship, conducting and vocal technique,
and the various practical issues facing today's directors
and chanters. The conferences culminate in the festive
pontifical All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy sung by
the participants. Metropolitan Laurus will preside over
    the divine services.

Further, participants will have the opportunity to
exchange ideas, get to know like-minded people and
    expand their liturgical repertoire.

This year's conference, entitled "New Pathways in Russian Sacred Music: 20-th Century Explorations/Europe and the United States", will focus on the history and the remarkable output of composers of the last century whose life's work was conducted beyond the borders of their native land.

Church musicians from all over the world attend these conferences, which have been held in Toronto, New York, Montreal, San Francisco, Chicago, London, Sydney and in other major cities over the years.

The  Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral, with its chapel dedicated to St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco in the room where he reposed in 1966, is located at  1714  13th Avenue, Seattle, Washington.
